Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Attention Citizens of Yew!
Once again the time has come to hold elections for our City Government. The following are the positions open for application and their duties:
EXECUTIVE BRANCH
Mayor: The mayor shall preside over all official functions (events, town fairs, etc.) in Yew, and shall open and close them all. The mayor is also the head of the executive branch and may direct other officers. In case of insubordination, the mayor may request the council to impeach, but may not him/herself remove any officer. A mayor has the power to approve ordinances. An ordinance is one or more of the following: Manages resources, improves the quality of living to the people of Yew, and/or improves productivity of the people of Yew. A Writ of Election may be issued by the mayor of Yew when vacancies occur among the city council or when re-elections are due.
Secretary: The secretary shall edit a designated public source of information, and is in charge of official counts, tallies, and census. The secretary may appoint assistants.
Speaker of the Assembly: The speaker’s job is to bring forth to the council items or concerns of the Citizens of Yew (Assembly). The speaker will hold meetings of the Assembly to gather these concerns. The speaker will be called upon to voice those items/concerns during council sessions.
Supreme Court Justice: The Supreme Court Justice should be a person of respect, embodying virtue, and above all a sense of Justice. The Supreme Court Justice is elected directly by the citizens. The Supreme Court Justice shall give guidance on the virtue of justice, and may consider lower appeals from the lower courts. The Supreme Court Justice has the power to authenticate persons to become lesser court Judges, they too must follow all regulations set to for selecting a Supreme Court Judge (limited to three), and following approval by the Yew Town Council. Assembly may appeal to the Supreme Court Judge any verdict given by a lower court judge. The Supreme Court Justice shall be able to certify lawyers, and legal binding through contract; they are subject to approval of the council at their own disgression.
COUNCIL MEMBERS NOT ELECTED
Commander of the Militia: The militia commander shall provide an organization, leadership of the militia, and may appoint under officers of the militia. The commander is responsible for the defense of the town, citizens, establishments designated as a Yew establishment, (owner is currently under no citizenship other then that of Yew,) may offer bounties and other rewards for service, as well as give medals or other citations.
Councilor of Yew: The role of councilor to the city of Yew to the High Council shall solely be involved in the Yew Council under the role as advisor. The councilor shall inherit no voting powers in passing laws, but may vote in elections. The Councilor is elected directly by the Citizens of Yew and remains the Councilor until such time as they resign, are impeached by the Council of Yew, are convicted of a crime and removed by the High Council itself, or do leave the lands by means of irreversible death or relocation to realms outside Sossaria. The Councilors duties to the High Council are stated in the Charter of the High Council.
